: nOn-thermal Processes in gALaxy clustErS
OPALES is a project supported by the french agency ANR 'Programme J.C.J.C.' (PROJECT ANR-09-JCJC-0001-01).
The OPALES project started on September 1st, 2009 and lasts for 48 months. It is being developed in the Lagrange Department of Côte d'Azur Observatory. The main aim of the OPALES project is to better understand the physics of the intracluster medium (ICM) in galaxy clusters by testing different theoretical models for the origin of non-thermal ICM emission and to analyze its effects on the evolution of galaxy clusters. More details are provided in the Science Objectives section.
